For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. 1 Samuel 15:23 (KJV)
So, knowing that certain aspect's of events, groupings, and such arising in threes or nines connotes a completeness is not an unforgivable sin. Placing a certain number of lottery tickets on a table with a foolish prayer for wealth, stomping your foot a certain number of times, and claiming material comforts and such in the name of [I cannot say, seeing that this is incredibly insulting use of His Name and Someone deserves more respect than this.] is and will ever be in the realm of witchcraft!

As Christ stated in the New Testament, this wicked and perverse generation seeks a sign from heaven and all that they will receive is the sign of Jonah. Some interpret this as "the instructive, yet, reluctant message which he gave the Ninevites"; it might be the experience which he had on the rough seas running from what he told that he should do.
With that said, the amount associated with three is quite a powerful notion of completeness found in scripture. Gideon faced an army of 10,000. He fought and conquered the larger army with, pardon the use of math, three groups of one hundredth of the size of the large army. A remnant can accomplish much. But, one of the most beautiful uses of a group of three, if not the most wonderful in history, is concoction of a cure found in Gilead with three small measure of metals. Pardon the author, he is quite biased based upon his experiences over nearly five decades.
Tarry with the author during this short aside. Being a former amateur comedian, and not necessarily a great one, he was working on some material over the weekend. And, although it might be considered dry by some and possibly poignant by others, he was rehearsing in the best place for new material, his room.
You know folks, my employer is a Jewish Carpenter. Now, over the years, this fine group had been stereotyped as stingy. This truly is unfair. I would hate, if anyone colored the rest of the world's perception of me, without the world truly knowing me. So, I will set the record straight. Most of the Hebrews, or Jews, which I have known in this existence have been quite frugal, yet, when they show generosity, watch out! One might think that the Flood Gates of Heaven have opened and a blessing is flowing upon you which is more awesome that you can conceive or receive! At least, this my life's experience. But, my Boss! this Fellow! It does not matter if the assignment is building a shed, "bread and butter" average American home, the largest home in this region of the country, our a multi-billion dollar resort commissioned by the largest real estate magnate in the world, he always says, "Son, he calls me son....I still wonder why, because I know me..., but He calls me son...use three nails!" I'm like, three nails? This job uses more cedar than lined the homes in all the homes in Jerusalem since antiquity. And, I walked away confounded. How will I accomplish building anything this substantial, with three nails!?! Possibly, I could build a small alabaster box with three nails , if I were resourceful. I looked over the schematic, and, then pick up the phone and called. I might need more nails than this...I do not see how this can be done....His reply, "those nails are very costly...very, very costly... they should not be used carelessly...be careful how they are used, and they will always suffice...." Well, it seems that house after house has been built, and, quite frankly, the rewards and ancillary compensation does not get any better than this. And, when I think about it, based on the cost which were listed on the supply sheet, I am quite happy, in fact, I am overjoyed that this price was not exacted from my cost center.
That "comedy routine" might have been somewhat irreverent, but whether, one considers oneself part of Christianity or not, if you are sincere about living a God-fearing life and expressing those behaviors found in Galatians 5:22 :
[Gal 5:22-26 KJV] 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
Realizing that Someone cared enough that they would endure that pain, while yet fully free from sin, so you could rightfully attain a level of behavior that brought about a peaceful and beautiful life, is worth understanding.
He was not the only person in history who has died on a cross, and not the only one who was not guilty of the crime for which they were being executed. It was commonplace before Christ's physical lifetime on earth, during his generation, and has continued since that time. Simply read Psalm 22, which predates Christ's ministry.
Also, for us Christians, let us take it easy on all those extra nails! The first three of them shall aways suffice.
Stay Blessed! May Joy Always Flow From a Heart Free From Wickedness!
